New to me!

This new school thing is no joke! I can't believe how swamped I've felt with work..it's given me basically no time for anything outside of work! I've tried to squeeze in a little fun time, and today I finally had the chance to pull together some pictures of what I've been up to!

Last weekend, I headed to Athens for some fun and fellowship! My wonderful friend Hannah invited me to spend the weekend with her and some other camp friends at the UGA game. Although its not my fave team, I knew that I would have the chance to see some of my fave friends! :)
I headed to Athens after school Friday. We spent the evening drinking wine and watching Say Yes to the Dress...wild night! We got up early and headed into Athens AFTER a very important stop at Jittery Joe's. YUM!! My favorite! We got to visit with some great friends, enjoy some beverages, and finally headed into a very hot game. Luckily, our seats were in the shade. We stayed for a few quarters and then headed into town for a little shopping and dinner.

Sunday, I headed to Charleston for some family time and was pleasantly surprised to find a great antique mall open. This was the shop where my love for antiquing began! A few years ago on my way home from Hannah's, I stopped in and found a fabulous old window. I was thrilled to find it open on a Sunday! I found some things that I would LOVE to have and then some things that I HAD to have :)

I loved this small old sewing machine but couldn't justify spending $60 on it just as a decoration for my sewing room. But I'll be keeping an eye out for one at a better price. The table on the right was really neat because the glass on top was basically a picture frame that fit over the table perfectly so that you could change the pictures under the glass. Again, $75 was too pricey, but I took a picture to see if I can figure out a way to make it!

These blocks were awesome and came home with me. Not sure exactly what I'll use them for, but I NEEDED them! Any ideas????
I also came home with a chair that you'll see in my dining room in pictures below and another window that I'd like to try and paint!

My "new" dining room table also made it inside this week. It fits perfectly! I'm very happy with the shape/coloring of it. The dining room definitely has a LONG way to go. We're waiting to hear from our contractor and are hoping to knock out part of the wall between the kitchen and dining room to make the rooms feel a little more open. Of course, we can't really paint until this is done either!
I'm also still mid-project with my dining room set....Originally, I wanted a farm house style table. I planned to make one with my dad and then collect random chairs to paint in a coordinated color with fun fabric on the cushions. I wanted to make sure my dining room was unique and fun even if it is a formal dining room. THEN I found the great oval table at an awesome price, which I couldn't pass up. So, I'm trying to rethink my plan. I certainly still want my mix of chairs, but I'm not sure of my color scheme. The original plan was gray and turquoise with splashes of coral/tangerine. I'm having to rethink it because the table brings in so much more brown. So I'll have to take that into consideration.

ANYWAYS, here are the pictures of my fab new table and awkward random chairs!

The stain coordinates really well with the hardwood.

The bottom is a little crazy so that you can fold the leaves down, but it makes it very sturdy.

Of course I had to add a little color!

(Imagine that they are all painted to match!)

Here are the chairs that I've found so far...
My Goodwill finds: (L) $8 but marked half off; $5...a total of $9! I'm hoping that I can create a cushion on both of them since both seats leave a lot to be desired...

My favorite so far, and of course the most expensive at $25.

And my find from Athens' Antique Mall. A whopping $8

I can't wait for all of this to start to come together! Right now, it's still a jumbled mess, but at least it's a start!

Finally, check out my other "new" piece of furniture...and this furniture is the best kind...FREE!!! My sweet aunt Susanne had this piece of furniture in her guest room but felt it was a little too crowded. It came from a great aunt, so she wanted to keep it in the family and offered it to me. I thought it matched the coloring of my living room perfectly and would be a great storage piece of furniture.

It's the perfect size for this giant wall!

So cute!

Whew! Glad to finally catch up! So sorry that I have waited so long. I'm hoping to get better at this!
