Crazy, tragic, sometimes almost magic, awful, beautiful life

Those lyrics seem to describe my life at the moment! Crazy being one of the key words for sure!

I have been blessed with some of the most fabulous friends! My camp friends have been a part of my life for so many years, and I am so thankful to still be involved with them. We had an incredible girls weekend in Greenville full of laughs, stories, drinks, and shopping.

Whoa! WAY too much stuff for a weekend trip!

Such a great trip! We enjoyed some mimosas at lunch and visited a "winery" in the afternoon.

And we enjoyed some beautiful snow!

But this precious boy missed me, and I was happy to get home and give him a big kiss!

Staying busy with monogramming! I am loving how these burp clothes turned out! Perfect for a Carolina-Florida household.

I've even done some cooking since basketball ended! Both of these recipes turned out great! I promise they tasted amazing (even though the color is a little funky!)

Well, we're off to DC this week for the senior class trip! Yes....we....as in, I'm chaperoning a high school trip! Wow, that makes me feel a little old! haha! But, I'm looking forward to it!

In the works

So excited for a surprisingly productive day!

Yay team! Happy, preppy coaches after a big win!

Rip's personalized tie. A friend scooped a few of these up at TJMaxx, and this one turned out so perfect! Love it!

After Rip's big win last night, I came home and decided I had to start a new project! I was not very productive this week, so at 11 pm, I decided to get to work! Haha!

I hit up Lowes after school, and picked some great colors to match this awesome fabric. This middle teal came home with me.... The darker chartreuse color is the plan for the walls. And then some BRIGHT orange came home to fix up this little gem...Still in the works, so you'll have to stay tuned to see what this bad boy is.
Soooo excited for this upgrade. It is much-needed! And I am LOVING this color combo, so I may decide to move into that room!

Woke up around 7:30 this morning and decided to go ahead and get to work. We got this bed frame from Rip's cousin and were given the green light to paint it and do whatever we wanted. Yippee!
So I worked for a few hours in the morning and tonight to begin the first coat. Still a long way to go. But I can't wait to start putting all of these pieces together in this room!

My sweet parents are coming up tomorrow, so I hope that we'll get some more things done around the house. I love going back to work on Monday when I feel like I've really had a productive weekend and gotten through some great projects.

Project Plans

Now that we're over halfway done with school and I've survived the crazy, wonderful, hectic-ness of the holidays, I am super ready to begin a new project at my house! I've been going crazy hunting online and in every home store that I visit for the next inspiration. My big focuses right now are....

Our bedroom
We painted it bright lime green, which I love. But we have no pictures, mirrors, curtains, or anything up.

Sid's bed right next to me! :)

Will most likely move these pillows to another room and make my own set of cute pillows.

This corner is so sad! We've got to mount the tv on this section of wall so that we can take the bedside table out of this corner.

So I really need to pick a fun fabric for curtains that I can start basing this room off of. I found one that I love, but it is super girly! And I don't think I can force Rip into it! haha!

Our dining room and kitchen
Of course I've been on the hunt for the last few months for a set of mismatched dining room chairs for my dining room. I found our fabulous funky oval table at a consignment shop this summer and was thrilled with the unique-ness and price! I've been collecting chairs and feel like I'm getting pretty close to having my full set. I am still on the hunt so that I can pick my favorites to use in the room. I've gotten great deals so far...mostly in the $10 range. So if I have any leftovers that don't seem to flow well with the others then I can paint them and put them as extra seating around the house or can just donate them back to goodwill.

Now the search is on for the perfect curtain fabric. To me, everything is based on that! I'll decide my paint color and the chair colors/cushion colors based on this. This week, I found two possible options that I'm definitely interested in.

I found this first and fell in love. THEN I found that it's no longer offered on the site. AND I can't find it anywhere else online! I was super disappointed about it because it has all of the colors that I wanted to incorporate....love the various shades of turquoise, teal, and the funky yellow-green.

THEN I found this fabulous fabric at my local fabric store. I will either be able to order more from her, or I have found several sites that offer it online. I love the color combinations and the light gray.
With this one, I have a few options....
  • The walls could be a gray that's a few shades darker. The chairs could be the darker teal that outlines the flowers, and the cushions would be either the lighter green or the light turquoise
  • The walls could be the super pale blue (which would complement the turquoise in my living room). The chairs could be a mix of gray and teal.
So, I'm not really sure which direction to go in, but I am so thrilled to have some options in mind! We're planning to have an opening/window cut in the wall between the kitchen and the dining room, so these colors will then tie into our kitchen.

The window would be on this small wall right here and would give us another counter top as well as some cabinet underneath.

We have the stainless steel appliances to tie into the silver. We're planning to replace the two kitchen lights and the one dining room light...so I'm on the hunt for great lighting whether from Lowes or Ikea or repainting from a thrift store.

This is hanging in my kitchen now. I drew out the design, and my dad cut it out of wood. Then I painted it with chalkboard paint and added some cute song lyrics in chalk marker. :) LOVE showing off a completed project!!

Our guest room
Our guest room has not been painted and is a collection of random mismatched furniture....so sad! Haha! It definitely needs some attention because it's used a lot! It's definitely being put to use right now...Rip's assistant coach in bball stays with us a few times a week, and I hate that he has such a boring room to stay in. Obviously he couldn't care less! But it bothers me!

I've started collecting pieces to decorate the room with when I find them out shopping. I know that I want a ton of fun and bright colors.

I found the plaque and flower at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago on super clearance. I planned to buy them and repaint them to match the room, but I think they're both going to go perfectly in the color scheme. Plus I have a ton of bright fun pictures to display. And my friend Stacy painted the beautiful colorful angel in the background, which I love!

And then there's this rug. I found this at TJMaxx and didn't have a place for it but knew that I had to have it! It's going to go well in this room and add to the fun feeling.

Some cute birds from Modern Relic in Savannah. Will be pretty either white or I may spray paint.

Now I am super excited! I finally found the perfect fabric for curtains and pillows! YAY!!!! Bought it this weekend and now I can start choosing colors for painting the walls and furniture!
My lovely new curtains! Only $6 a yard!

Possibly some small pillows on the bed

YAY for productive shopping weekends and good bargains!!! Now it's time to get to work!!!!!
